Synopsis of the Animation:
"Ever like to go on a calming road trip? It creates opportunity to escape to the endless seas of adventure. Keep the good vibes going with a calming trip to outer space and visit exhotic planets. Maybe it can help clear some thoughts or even help you remember some of the good ones. You can even share these road trips with mates, share some laughs and even have some stories to share later".
In trimester 4, we're given the honor of working on a project known as the "Yagan Tower" animation project for a unit at SAE. For this project I had this idea to create this vapor wave style of nostalgia trip from the 90's. The aesthetic I wanted to go for was a nostalgic and I wanted to implement a car that I have liked growing up, a 93' Nissan Skyline R32.
My iterations through out the project went from “bleh” to “mmmm” really quick I found. Especially after a couple of the first screen tests. I started most of my blocking out in Maya, thinking that maybe I could settle for that software choice, but it wasn’t creating the lighting effects that I wanted. So I decided to make the switch to Unreal Engine 4. The engine provided the rendering and light effects I needed.
The 3D model of the Nissan Skyline R32 that I made. As well as modelling the car for my Yagan Tower animation project, I picked the Nissan for practicing quad topology modeling that I've put into practice during my studies.
Blockout / Test Renders & Blockout Car
I made the first car to blockout my animation scene for screen testing before I got to modelling the Nissan Skyline. I loved so much that I had to immortalize it online. XD
